Boston sports multiple local all-cdr labels of dubious legality. This particular one comes to us by way of a lovely fellow named George. It features what are obviously George's records, usually transferred in a fair & decent manner. Bristol's Pop Group were the kings of the liberating & frenetic squealing known to music lovers everywhere as the 'early Rough Trade sound'. These are savage live performances of their best songs from 1979, plus some demos which didn't make it onto 'Y', that Rough Trade compiled in the wake of the group's dissolution. Their spine-twisting arty sqawk is emphasized here more than any other release, and there's less of that dubby/angular groove which characterizes 'For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder?'. I like it best of 'em all. Tracklisting: Trap, Thief of Fire, Genius or Lunatic, Colour Blind, Spanish Inquisition, Kiss the Book, Amnesty Report, Springer, Sense of Purpose, We Are Time.
