Fat Day is nominally a Boston hardcore band, but over time they've morphed into something deeply other. Instead of just aping old moog or fluxus records, they translate the on-top-of-the-beat herky jerk of a tight, fists-flying unit into vintage synth arrangements, chirruping game call pieces, or marching band music. Careening tempo shifts & a singer who can successfully mimic a cat getting it's tail yanked, plus string quartets, odd beepings, accordion, alto sax, french horn, sousaphone, bagpipe. Also, this is said to be a concept record about a lost underwater world of lizards who perhaps take over the earth. Even after reading all the lyrics it's impossible to tell. There's even a few moments of Ft. Thunder-style noise. Help from New England couldn't-do-it-without-ems like Jeremy Harris (Lucky Dragons), Sam Rowell (Eloe Omoe) & Dreamhouse. 6th & final album. Tracklisting: We Must Leave This Place, El Ocho, Ten Men, Cell Tower, Protocol Droid, Number Place, Number Please, Golden Cage, Newt, Vestigal Organs Are Fully Functional, Wangla Bwoots, Veins of Metal, How Many Questions Have You Asked Today, Mormooned, Ranger Rick, The Inept Eft, Let's Skip the Paralympics, Terrazoster, Satchel, Em Aye Aye, Mad Mad Mad, American Elf, Dawn of the Mammals, Pome, Brachiosaur Dream, Rattlesnake Galactica, Eine Kleine Eins, Atlantis, Don't Pee in the Empire.
