Boston is full of schools, so it's full of college radio stations. And that means it's also full of college radio station music directors. But only one very wonderful one, Patrick Bryant from WMBR, had the genius idea to spend his radio show reading uncensored complaint bulletins from the local paper over Burt Kampfert instrumentals. They call it in, the paper prints it, he reads it, and you get to find out what the spectacularly unbrilliant residents of Somerville, Massachusetts really think. And they think plenty, about dog poop, snow shovelling bylaws, immigration, fat ladies, the Grammys, Christmas, and of course the practices of the paper itself. I'm not sure whether it's cheering or depressing, but it's humanity, and it comes here complete with record skips, flubs, & the vagaries of alzheimers. Tracklisting: Que el Jode Es Speakout de Somerville, Please Don't Hate Me Just Because I'm Fat Computer Illterate Have Gout and/or Hate the Pope, Call Me The Barber, I Believe That Children Are the Future Unless the Children Are From Somerville, Let's Put the X in Xmas, Legalize Pot but Not Gay Marriage, Are Your Tax Dollars Paying for Speakout, Uh Oh Here Comes the Neighborhood, The Evils That Taxis Do, Man's Best Friend is Somerville's Greatest Enemy, Park It Mister, Have It Your Way for Twenty Cents Extra, That's Entertainment Until Somebody Loses An Eye, Law and Disorder, People Calling to Talk About People Calling to Talk About People Calling to Talk About Speakout.
