As gleaming and glamorous as the rhinestones on his sunglasses, Esquerita and his two wigs are a soul-shouting marvel. Sessions that were unknown to exist until recently, recorded in NYC. Switching between piano & organ, sometimes with his hands on the 88 & his feet on the organ pedals, the real gone reet is backed by a drummer who has clearly dabbled in amphetamines. Probably the wrong year to've been future zydeco performer Lynn August, so the gent's identity is unknown. Esquerita had not yet taken on pseudonyms Magnificent Malochi or Fabulash, & this was probably one of his last attempts to get on a major before deciding to shack up with smaller dreams. He swings hard. Tracklisting: Sinner Man, Hittin on Nothing, CC Rider, Leave Me Alone, Letter Full of Tears, Hittin on Nothing #2, On Broadway, Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out, Leave Me Alone #2, Sinner Man #2.
