Baroque social critiques covered in a glaze of lysergia. A major jewel in the crown of UK 60s popsike that's been compiled bazillions of times and still shines unsmirched. Liberty chose a tune by their in-house songwriter Les Reed as the A side. And with Reed's background with John Barry (he played on the orig. James Bond theme) & his '65 success writing the Tom Jones hit 'It's Not Unusual', it's pretty understandable. Except to the members of the Penny Peeps, who knew that the B side was a smash.
