Do not pass this one up. Ugandan college student who was attending the New England Conservatory in 1972. Soft singing with nonsense scat/Leon Thomas interpolations (one cut also breaks out with really screwy screaming & nasal whining when the character in the song gets some just desserts). Lilting enough that it could be an African version of Caetano Veloso's 'Araca Azul'. Acoustic guitar is sharp & skittery. Bass playing (by the guy from Stark Reality) is indeed jazzy, but without a trace of Phil Lesh ick that you might fear. Tracklisting: Okusosola Mukuleke, Uganda, Kanemu Kanabili, Lule Lule, Njabala, Obuguma, Yelewa.
