Here's Esther's first single after winning a Johnny Otis talent contest, cut when she was all of 16 years old. After some great R&B tunes on Modern & Savoy her career stalled a few times because of heroin problems, but whenever she cleaned up her parakeet-colored voice got her attention again quickly.
