Short but sweet field recording of a disused & neglected 19th century carousel just outside Buffalo, NY. Made by Neil Coletta, the onetime bass player in Exusamwa, who has a longstanding obsession with mechanical turks, marionettes, & other victorian era feats of engineering. The Herschell Factory was once a bustling builder of carousel parts, & these days its a museum where kids can take woodworking classes & see the huge roundhouse, wurlitzer music rolls, hand-carved animals & so on. Apparently the museum has been slowly restoring the carousel for many years, but they haven't been able to fix the music-producing contraption that goes with it.
