Think Rod McKuen's sexual subtexts are ho-hum? Jandek's grey-slices-of-life are too easygoing? Welcome to the ultra-creepy world of Plinth. New York poet who started publishing in the late 50s, mostly on his own dime, and by the mid-70s was swinging hard (at least in his poems) into bisexuality, alien visitations, Rolling Stones songs, and oedipal nightmares. He issued a few scant downer albums on the tiny Vox label, and seems to have mailed most of them off to nearby libraries. His all-spoken performances are stoic, & even whispery at first listen, but the macabre & disturbing undercurrents will soon overwhelm you as Plinth picks apart his own head & his unhappy past. Here's 2 of his albums, on the cheap. Tracklisting: Stater Hitler, Peter and Paul, Geronimo's Cadillac, Saturnian Visitors.
