'Tschus' is the German word for 'bye', and it's a really appropriate title. Starts off with a very pretty, haunting tune that could have been on any number of 70s loft jazz records, but then abruptly drops off into dead air & what sounds like Bennink flopping over onto the floor with a thump. A gorgeous clarinet solo winds up tighter & tighter until it's a single-minded, masturbatory squeaking by the end of the side. Another cut on the flip has a constant hi-hat running through it that would've been perfect under a fast bop tune, except that the solos never stick to a key. They smear around all over each other at top speed until Van Hove picks up an accordion and then they all let out like limp balloons. As the saying goes, real gone. Tracklisting: Two Birds in a Feather, Ein Bischen Jazzbesen, Claptrap, Lottedufloote, Tofftoff, Zigan Zigan, Petit Blues Fourre, RWSCH, 2 B Klarinetten, Bierhaus Wendel, Tschus.
