Less chunky & more molten than Cecil Taylor, but just as free & employing lots of crinkly clusters, pianist Davidson was a biochemistry grad student at Harvard when Ornette Coleman recommended him to Bernard Stollman. Davidson suffered some sort of lab accident & never recorded again, but there are still Boston improvisors (Joe Morris, John Voigt) who talk about his impressive graphic scores & interest in using music to rewire people's brains. Gary Peacock & Milford Graves. Tracklisting: L, Stately 1, Dunce, Ad Hoc, Strong Tears.
