I think this is THE Art Ensemble lp, capturing them at the beginning of an extended stay in Paris. You can point to plenty of bands who took their cue from Ayler, John Cage or even Derek Bailey, but no one yet has figured out how to improvise on the template implied here. A huge range of instruments that're traditional, ethnic, toys, whatever, and an interest in combining musical chaos with vaudevillian humor, to where it's almost a record of avant skits.
