Atlanta guitarist who could while his way through country fingerpicking (on a 12-string, no less) all the way to metropolitan bottleneck slides. He's known for his impromptu, whimsical changes in rhythm as well as style, very appropriate to someone who busked in a busy downtown or could get extra money from record-makers by performing under multiple names. An immediate hit with the 60s folk revivalists, his 78s have continued to be cherished by just about every type of music fan ever since. He's also seems to have about 50 times more fun playing music than any of the kajillion musicians who make reference to him. Tracklisting: Broke Down Engine Blues, Mama Taint Long for Day, Georgia Rag, Love Changing Blues, Statesboro Blues, Stomp Down Rider, Savannah Mama, Travelin Blues, Drive Away Blues, Warm It Up to Me, Three Women Blues, Writing Paper Blues, Souther Can Is Mine, Talkin to Myself.
