Judaism is (& long has been) a tiny minority in India, probably comprising no more than several hundred souls in Bombay before the creation of Israel in the 40s. But that doesn't mean there wasn't room for a musical community. Bombay was also the center of the recording industry for most of the far east and Asia during the 78 era, so it's not so outrageous that some shellac was pressed. Some of these songs were made specifically for music schools, while others featured players who went on to perform on hit Bollywood soundtracks (the mandolin player from 'Baiju Bawra' no less!). These songs are less arabic sounding & remind more of cantorial & klezmer tunes than the preceeding volume, but are certainly no less vivid. Tracklisting: Simeon Jacob Kharilker-Adon Olam, Simeon Jacob Kharilker-Yom Hasahbbat, Simeon Jacob Kharilker-Deror Ikhara, Simeon Jacob Kharilker-Ashir Lael, Simeon Jacob Kharilker-Yaroom Venisa, Simeon Jacob Kharilker-Hatikvah, Abid David-Hai Hai El Hai, Abid David-Deror Yikra, Zaky Solomon Isaac-Aet Shaare Rason, Zaky Solomon Isaac-Adonai Becol Shophar, Zaky Solomon Isaac-Yodukha Raayonai, Zaky Solomon Isaac-Yom Hashabat, Zaky Solomon Isaac-Yom Simha, Nathan Solomon Satamkar-Deror Iqra, Nathan Solomon Satamkar-Yom Hashabat.
