Heartsman had scuttled around as a session player for years before settling into a low key residency at a club in Sacramento. He issued this set of live tunes- chosen by club regulars & even paid for by their preorders, & sold it only at shows. Dual femme & bass vocals that range from goofy doo wopping to soul shouts & tight jazz, lots of organ, Chicago-style electric blues guitar. It's a real night out at a packed house with a live soul band like they just don't make no more. Tracklisting: The Thrill Is Gone, A Day in the Life of a Fool, Every Day I Have the Blues, Talking About My Baby, Who Do You Love, Silky Pete, Mr. Magic, Ontario Serenade, The Road to Nowhere, Up From Down, Dream a Dream, If We Can't Be Lovers, Silky Pete, Summer.
