South Indian bamboo flute. Mali was a child prodigy whose uncle ran a music school. His father wanted him to learn singing. He saw other boys playing the flute, and secretly taught himself to play some of his vocal exercises on the instrument at various speeds. He reportedly had Mozart's ability to hear a song once and repeat it, and as an adult invented a new hand position for bamboo flute playing called the 'parrot clutch'. A bit of bonky percussion, but mostly just a long, twisting string of peeping tones & flitting birdsong. Much spritelier & also dirtier than his previous release. Notes have details about Mali's personality quirks, including drinking & gambling habits, hollering at his accompanists, canceling concerts for no reason, & giving away all his money. Tracklisting: Ninuvina Pt 1, Ninuvina Pt 2, Evarani, Mahudi, Enthara Pt 1, Enthara Pt 2, Paramaathmudu Pt 1, Paramaathmudu Pt 2, Suki Evaro Pt 1, Suki Evaro Pt 2, Sarasija Nabha.
