In late 20 Memphis, a guitarist was nearly always a full time busker and a human party jukebox. Stokes was good at his job and by the time of these recordings, had been doing it for 30 years. Driving, raggy songs that lean towards blues or ballads, turn-of-the-centry rural or contemporary tin pan alley as needed. Danceable, loud, sharp humored, & rough & tumble, he was influential to everyone from Memphis Minnie to Jimmie Rodgers to Bukka White. Tracklisting: Downtown Blues, Bedtime Blues, What's the Matter blues, Mistreatin Blues, It Won't Be Long Now, Nehi Mamma Blues, I Got Mine, Stomp That Thing, Tain't Nobody's Business If I Do, Take Me Back, How Long, South Memphis Blues Bunker Hill Blues, right Now Blues, Shineytown Blues, Frank Stokes' Dream, Memphis Rounders Blues.
