The Beat Boys were the band that backed Gilberto Gil when he sang 'Alegria Alegria' at the Third International Song Festival, which nearly had the crowd in a riot and exhuberantly announced the beginning of Tropicalia. The band was in fact from Argentina, and they were hand picked out of a restaurant gig about a year earlier by Gil & Caetano Veloso, most likely for thier easy commitment to farfisa organs & paisley shirts. Here's their sole album under their own name, with a sick fuzzed out version of 'Green Tambourine', as close as they could find to fake sitar, & phased vocals dripping all over the place. Tracklisting: Wake Me Shake Me, O Meu Tamborim, Abrigo de Palavras em Caixas de Ceu, Cancao Que Mais Niguem Cantou, Pobre Coracao, Era Uma Menina, Canudinho, Abre Sou Eu, Torta de Morangos, A Time for Remembrance, A Felicidade, Sempre Esperando, Aria Para a Corda Sol.
