Goombay percussion, calypso, Bahamas folk songs & pre-war jazz all get mixed up in the swiss cheese mind & smooth moovin lips of Blake (not to be confused with the Paramount blues guitarist from Florida). With a singing style that's quintessentially esaygoing, Blake was able to play at the biggest Nassau hotel lounge for 30 years, eventually even landing a gig at the airport to play for tourists as they got off the planes. His most famous albums came out in the early 50s, resulting in lots of astrignent, unfunny covers by early folkies like Pete Seeger & Dave Van Ronk. Tracklisting: Love Love Alone, John B. Sail, Jones, JP Morgan, Consumptive Sara Jane, Yes Yes Yes, Never Interfere with Man and Wife, Gin and Coconut Water, The Cigar Song, Run Come See Jerusalem, Bahama Lullaby, My Pigeon Got Wild, Delia Gone, Tanneray, Loose Goat, Lord Got Tomatoes, Bella mena, Hold Im Joe/Jump in the Line/Wheel and Turn Me, Go Down Emmanuel Road, Watermelon Spoilin on the Vine, Oh Look Misery, Foolish Frog, Peas and Rice, Eighteen Hundred and Ninety One, Monkey Song, On a Tropical Isle, Goombay Drum, Better Be Safe Than Sorry.
