Koenig is best known for taking electronic music to it's logical conclusion. Installed at an electronic music studio run by West Germany's state radio station, he helped out on everything from Kagel pieces to Stockhausen's 'Kontakte'. He moved to the Netherlands in the mid-1960s & was one of the earliest composers to transition to computer composition software, creating a program called SSP in 1971 to use in his own writing. Besides the classic oscillator tunes Koenig performs himself, there are some serial pieces that were inspired by working with reel to reel mixdowns, where several layers of music were meant to be randomly set on top of each other before performing the whole. There's also a performance by the famed LaSalle quartet, for whom Koenig wrote a piece based around bowing techniques. Tracklisting: Zwei Klavierstucke, Suite Materialien zu Einem Ballett, Streichquartett, Terminus X, Funktion Grun, Funktion Gelb, 60 Blatter fur Streichtrio.
