El Din took oud classes while in college in Cairo, & even got a grant to collect folk songs around Egypt, which he played on the oud even though the oud was more usually used for orchestral accompaniment. He then went to school in Rome to study western classical music, where he met Greenwich Village folkie Gino Foreman. Foreman saw the immediate similarities between El Din's interests and his own, played El Din for Joan Baez & Dylan, and before long El Din was performing at the Newport folk festival & recording a couple of albums for Vanguard. He emigrated to the US, and then later to Japan, where he studied the closest cousin they have to the oud, the biwa lute. Tracklisting: Fegir Nedan, Desse Barama, Aiga Denos Ailanga, Hoi To Irkil Fagiu, Kuto Fa Pattaroni, Shahadag Og, Nabra, Nubala.
