Nothing but quivering strings, close up & in small combinations across tight ranges of microtones, played for maximum tension. Recordings stretch over a number of years, but there's a suprising cohesiveness to the recording quality & performance style. One of Scelsi's most famous pieces, 'Quattro Pezzi', is here- it's the one that makes the case for entire compositions based on a single note. A touch of Japanese Noh knockoff in one spot, but otherwise it's all shudder.
