Korean rock godfather who's most notable these days for his completely ridiculous cover of 'Inna Gadda Da Vida' (resihed on a Beatball lp a while back). His career ran from the end of the Korean war until the militarization movement by South Korean president Park Chung Hee in the mid-70s. He was in a beat band called Add 4 (which partly spawned He 5 & He 6), and his band under his own name backed loads of female pop singers. Korean rock history runs pretty closely alongside the Tokyo scene, so you can find popfuzz moves that could almost be GS (except they're not nearly hyper enough) as well as heavy Cream riffage. Great tearjerker ballads, Motown ripoffs. Very little crossover with the smattering of previous Shin Joong Hyun reissues, although 'Nothing to Say' was on cd briefly. Tracklisting: Shin Joong Hyun-Moon Watching, Golden Grapes-Please Don't Bother Me Anymore, Kim Sun-The Man Who Must Leave, Kim Jung Mi-The Sun, Shin Joong Hyun-J Blues 72, Jang Hyun-Pushing Through the Fog, Shin Joong Hyun-I've Got Nothing to Say, Lee Hung Hwa-I Don't Like, Hang Hyun-Please Wait, Park in Soo-Spring Rain, Lee Jung Hwa-Tomorrow, Bunny Girls-Why That Person, Jang Hyun-Sunset, Shin Joong Hyun & the Men-Beautiful Rivers and Mountains.
