Companion to a book about the black power movement in the US. Probably the only kill-whitey record to have a bunch of crackers on it (Roy Harper, Bob Dylan, & John Lennon all show up), but as the compiler points out, at the time very famous pop stars could be seen as legitimately revolutionary. That idea currently seems even crazier than the idea that the cops might show up & shoot you while you slept a la Fred Hampton, so maybe the guy's got a point after all. Anyhow, you get everything from fiercely angry shouting (Last Poets) to wild funk (Kain) to Dick Gregory jokes about how the Panther logo looks just like the one for baking soda. Tracklisting: Shahid Quintet-Invitation to Black Power, Stokely Carmichael-Free Huey, Eddie Harris with Gene McDainiels-Silent Majority, Elaine Brown-Until We're Free, Bob Dylan-George Jackson, Watts Prophets-Dem Niggers Ain't Playing, Marlena Shaw-Woman of the Ghetto, Dick Gregory-Black Power, Kain-I Ain't Black, Roy Harper-I Hate the White Man, Gil Scott Heron-Winter in America, Eldridge Cleaver-Tim Leary, John Lennon & Yoko Ono-Angela, Lumpen-Free Bobby Now, Original Last Poets-Die Nigga, Amiri Baraka-Who Will Survive America.
