You know how whenever there's a group of friends who all do the same stuff, everybody ends up sleeping with everybody until eventually they all hate each other? Well, when Carla Bley was married to Paul, Paul's quintet was the entire Ornette Coleman band. When Annette was married to Gary Peacock, Gary was the bass player for Albert Ayler, and also for Paul. After the Bleys and the Peacocks both got divorced, Paul married Annette. So here you have Annette's bitter, bitchy funk album where she neatly swallows Patti Smith, Alanis Morissette, Carly Simon, and several other catty ladies whole. As if that wasn't enough, she scats through a moog the whole time. And there's an Elvis cover. Lawrence Cook plays drums on one cut. Paul Bley, Barry Altschul. Tracklisting: I'm the One, 7 Days, Pony, Been & Gone, Blood, One Way, Love Me Tender, Gesture Without Plot, Did You Hear Me Mommy.
