32 page book made on the occasion of a local art gallery exhibition about Michigan's most undisciplined sons. Tons of visuals, a complete & well-annotated discography, an essay by Byron Coley, and a humdinger cd that collects unreleased songs from Cary Loren's sprawling & all-inclusive archive. Throughout the 80s & half of the 90s, the few who knew of DAM thought it was an offshoot Stooges project that had released one or two singles. Suddenly in the mid 1990s, a 3cd on Ecstatic Yod revealed a loose group that was as close to being a filmmaking team, a zine publisher, or a visual art troupe as it was a band. Membership changed slowly as folks went off to art school or moved away, and depending on who was involved, you might get home-recorded ur-noise, thrift store toys, goth, heavy Detroit-style rock, novelty tunes, or all of the above at the same time. Cary Loren, Mike Kelley, Jim Shaw, Niagra, Roger Miller (Mission of Burma) plus his two brothers Ben & Larry all appear. Tracklisting: I Started a Joke, Interlude #1, I Love You But You're Dead, Bebop Be, Broken Mirrors, Interlude #2, Alice Coltrane, Them First Movement, Interlude #3, Queen of Egypt, We're Gauche, Untitled Solo Guitar, It It It, Interlude #4, November 22nd, Too Bad For You, Body Parts, Horrid Nightmare, Untitled Solo Guitar #2, You're My Every Page, Small World, Interlude #5, The Killer Walked, Johnny A La Mode, Interlude #6, Godzilla, Interlude #7, Outer Limits Overdrive, Love Like Yours & Mine, Interlude #8.
