Overview of the cranky German's most gorgeous pieces. Some early & renowned ones with oscillators that announced Stock's break with musique concrete. One long percussion number that was written as a graphic score that goes in a big circle (you set up your drums in a circle around you & start where you want). It's premiere at Darmstadt sparked off a whole fad for percussion writing. And there's nothing quite like 'Gesang der Junglinge', with its' bubbling child voices & garbled electronic noises, weening sine waves & overall evil vibes. They say that Stockhausen wanted it to be a reglious piece & wrote to a bishop to get it blessed, but the bishop told him that stereo speakers didn't belong in churches. These are the versions that you'd want, and the label crammed as much as possible on each disc. David Tudor & Gottfried Michael Koenig help out. Tracklisting: Studie I, Studie II, Gesang der Junglinge, Zyklus fur Zwei Schlagzeugern.
