There's lots more to Gambian 70s songs than just the Super Eagles. When the riverland's most famous musical export immediately went off on tour in the late 60s, the moneyman behind them decided to start up a new band in their stead. Among the people he hired were Bai Janha. Janha started as a bass player, but had to step into the guitarist's shoes one night when he was a no-show. Janha went on to found Guelewar, Ifang Bondi, and be a member of several other bands. But no pedigree is necessary once you hear the loose, minor key chunks of rhythm guitar, wailing electric funk solos, all-elbows keys & big live-sounding drums. Live at a club in Senegal in the mid-80s, but it may as well have been 10 or even 15 years earlier. Love how present the room is in this recording- that perfect live sound that Grateful Dead bootleg fans are always looking for is prominent. Tracklisting: Sama Yai, Satay Muso, Ndigal, Dimba Nyima, Titi, Na Dinding Fatty, Gore Nga, Linga Ham, Gamo Jigimar.
