The surge of new wave in Europe & the US also happened in Spain of course. Locally it was called movida (the movement), & it also coincided with the end of the nasty Franco regime. The rule-breaking musicians did was understandably agressive, fast & accompanied by several extra helpings of shaky elation. Most bands here were inspired by an axis of Contortions/No Wave/Birthday Party, but there are nods to the Swans, the Rough Trade sound, industrial cassettes, & so on. Dark & synth-heavy, with lots of heavily syncopated drums and disruptive metal clanking underneath keyless squalls of a lone sax or trumpet. Tracklisting: Klamm-The Past Is Frozen, La Fundacion-Reteicion, New Buildings-Historias para Largos Recorridos, Mar Otra Vez-He, Clonicos-Cha Cha Cha, La Caida de la Casa Usher-Baila Negro, Claustrofobia-Paris Nostalgic, La Gran Curva-Tension, T-Dot, Los Iniciados-La Marca de Anubis, Deposito Dental-Dodo, Il Epoca del Hombre-Me Bato Contra Dios, 429 Enganos-Corazones, Xeerox-Viejo Decorado Electrico 4, Neo Zelanda-Paso Hambre, Teatro Negro de Praga-Distanciamiento, 1985s-No Hay Perros Calientes.
