1st record of mellow fingerstyle acoustic guitar, replete with a barrel full of sappy hippie-protest lyrics. Recorded in the basement of a Philly shoe store. Leopold played live around the east coast for several years, often opening for big folk names like Janis Ian. KP sez: Loner Philadelphian with messianic complex makes good. Total basement dwelling urban shithole-raised real-serious 1969 acid-folk vibe that ranks just below Red Hash as one of the best American private press LPs of the genre. In fact, one side of the label of this here debut actually has the words "Acid-Folk" real big like on it, and this was definitely maybe the first time the phrase was ever used. His second album, unreleased until Gear Fab solved that problem in the 90s, is pretty knee-toe too. If you're looking for one of the 300 copies originally pressed of this, just go ahead and forget about that shit right now. Supposedly from the master tapes... Tracklisting: The Absurd Paranoid, Cold in Philadelphia, And Then the Snow Came, The 35th of May, Experiment in Metaphysics, When You're Gone, The USS Commercial, Jets They Roar, The Prophesy, The Dawning of Creation.
