One of my little pet theories is that certain kinds of neurosis are better suited to certain cultural climates. Ladies seemed to faint a lot more in the 1860s, for example. But more to the point, there's a particular sort of burnt-to-the-bottom hopelessness that goes with acid damage and the early 1970s. Hear one of it's more cavernous deep dips right here. California former drummer with garage band the Road Runners falls long & hard into mental instability, and along the way finds two seriously inept musicians & privately records some hard psych blues. Lotsa gooey inside thoughts on the outside where they don't belong, loose rhythms, & wonderful monotone singing that stretches vowels into new realms of impenetrability. Apparently, Mr. Heitkotter still resides in an institution, and has a long standing obsession with black orchids. Tracklisting: Hangin All Night, I Don't Mind, Quaker Dog Got Away, Cadillac Woman, Fly Over the Moon.
