Compiled by Mike McGonigal (Yeti, Chemical Imbalance), this set airs the rapacious growth of interest in postwar gospel in the last few years. There's a few performers who've already received reissues (Elder Beck, Utah Smith, Abner Jay, Louis Overstreet), but also a ton of unknown artists who only recorded one obscure single. And just like a good indie mix tape (of which McGonigal was a king back when people did such things), styles run the gamut from busted up solo electric licks to ghostly acapella choirs.
