The folks at Soft Sounds are deeply interested in the cross-pollinating of 60s folkpop subfads, which blasted onto the American mindscape circa '66 or so as soon as the Mamas & the Papas hit the charts. The male-female duet really was an aspect of this world, as it was equally suitable for Greenwich Village's nature lovin' folk or for the hustlers & lizards of bead-n-bauble-covered LA. Loads of overdubbed voices, jangly guitars, enough tamborines to scare a pack of horses, and plenty of verse trading sexual tension between couples, siblings, producers and their groomies, songsmiths and their muses, etc. A surprising number of Donovan ripoffs among the Phil Spector/Sonny & Cher/Nino & April ones, but enough of both for everybody. Tracklisting: Hubbels-Hippy Dippy Funky Monkey Double Bubble Sitar Man, Tony and Siegrid-Up Here, Kathy and Larry-Time, Friend and Lover-Circus, The Source-You Don't Know What's Going On, Tingling Mothers Circus-Sunday Kind of Feelin, Bunky and Jake-Taxicab, St. George and Tana-Big Daddy's Blues, Ranee and Raj-Rainbow Land, Petticoat and Vine-Riding a Carousel, Gas Company-Get Out of My Life, Morley-Faran's Forest, Sunny and Phyllis-I've Been Lost, Tony and Siegrid-You Don't Understand At All, Good and Plenty-Children Dreamin, Bobby and I-Love is for Sharing, Tony and Terri-California LA, Rejoice-Gardens of Chelsea, Smokey and his Sister-Sheridan Square, Tee and Cara-I Don't Think I Know Her, Stormy and Gabriel-Comin Down, Gypsy Trips-Rock N Roll Gypsies.
