Who can resist the quaalude soft melancholia & haunted female harmonies of 'The Winter is Cold'? Wendy & Bonnie Flower were real live teen glee club sisters whose Dad was a jazz drummer. He got Cal Tjader to broker a record deal for them, & also got Gary McFarland to produce their album very much in the style of the jazzed hippie pop of McFarland's albums with Gabor Szabo. They never made another album, but Wendy grew up to make a couple of children's records, & Bonnie sometimes sits in with members of the Tonight Show band. Adds a whole disc of singles, recently discovered demos, & alternate takes.
