Bucknor, like Fela, went to college in the West & discovered soul music, bringing it home to Lagos where it turned out that his cousin Wole had discovered the same songs by becoming a member of Fela's band. By the time Segun'd been back for a couple of years, his sound had turned super slinky & the ticking tight minor key vamps of his band were as hard & nasty as anything happening in Africa. His 'Son of January 15th' album from 70 is featured heavily here (on disc 2). It's got lots of political sarcasm, is named after the military coup of 1966, & smokes like a chimney. Tracklisting: Sorrow Sorrow Sorrow, Poor Man No Get Brother, Dye Dye, Only in My Sleep, Adanri Sogbasogba, Baby Get Your Thing, Love and Affection, Son of January 15th, La La La, Gbmojo, Ayinde Ogo, Who Say I Tire, You Killing Me, Adebo, La La La, That's the Time.
