Compilation of quiet & laid back country rock from the cracker triangle, the area of Southeast Texas which spawned 50s performers like George Jones, the Big Bopper & Johnny Preston (and also some mainstream stuff like Janis Joplin & Johnny Winter). And it was also home some of the most strident bigots ever to make their home in these United States (Jasper, TX, just for starters, was the place where James Byrd Jr was dragged to death by a car in 1998). Long-beloved garage bands like the New Breed & the Impalas eventually swapped in their trashy fury for long electric explorations, and then once they'd stretched out, for acoustic guitars playing CSNY-inspired shambling in little dive bars. A tough place to open minds, but here's the folks that tried.
