Bert Jansch's pure-voiced roommate had already spent several years hanging around the UK folk scene, but she was notoriously unreliable about turning up for shows, & was known for antics like running off to Ireland every summer, jumping out of haylofts, or diving into the sea to chase seals. So it wasn't until the early 70s that she made this 1st & coolest album. Stark arrangements, sometimes with Briggs singing completely unaccompanied (which was, until the advent of the 60s scene, how many UK folk singers performed). There's one track with bouzouki too. Tracklisting: Blackwater Side, The Snow It Melts the Soonest, Willie O Winsbury, Go Your Way, Thorneymoor Woods, The Cuckoo, Reynardine, Young Tambling, Living By the Water, Maa Bonny Lad.
