Often billed as his noisiest release, even though 'Impish Tyrant' & 'Land of Lurches' from the next year are both leaps more severe. Many of the pieces here are built out of low frequency drones with serrated edges of distortion/computer mulch and some well-timed sweeps/stabs of feedback. This record does however, set itself apart from masses (upon masses upon masses) of similar ones. For one thing, it's immensely well recorded- you can hear every throb and pop and blister even when they're all happening at the same time. Also, it's quite elegant. Drumm's sense of timing is always deliberate without being flamboyant- he's as businesslike as a bulldozer operator. So get your face dirty & get scooped up. Tracklisting: Hitting the Pavement, Inferno Part 1, Inferno Part 2, Cloudy, Impotent Hummer, Turning Point.
