And just when you thought you were done, here comes an avalanche of heavy Khmer rock songs that haven't been easily available before. While information about Sinn Sisamouth & Ros Sereysothea is far easier to dig up today than it was 15 years ago, there's still a lot that's unsure. For example, the Thra Kha Band, who appear briefly on 'Cambodian Rocks Vol. 3', are here pouring on the Santana guitar whomp as raw as anything you've heard. Rarely seen names like Choun Malai, Tet Somnang & In Yeng all pop up, and in the wake of a few movies & wikipedia articles, you even get halfway normal liner notes. Those unforgettable whiney voices, traditional gongs/chimes and slayin' fuzz leads ran deep through Phenom Penh's nightclubs, so don't hesitate to keep coming back for more. Vol. 1 of this series, by the way, is a compilation of French 60s songs rather than Khmer ones, & it's not quite released yet.
