Where other collections of Thai music are surfy or disco or lilting, this one pulls out the 3 thousand pound heavy rock elephants at every turn, and man, is it ever a skull-cracker. Fantastic swipes at Sabbath, Morricone & Chicago, but further listening only deepens appreciation for the unique instrumentation/arrangements. Chris Menist & Maft Sai run the ZudRangMa label, & these days they thave their own shop in Bangkok. Everyone's favorite Iron Man, Sroeng Santi, finally makes his appearance on a US-available release. Santi used to burn his leather jacket onstage while singing about high gasoline prices. Plearn Promdan (you might remember him from 'The Sound of Siam') is known for incorporating skits into his songs, and oh, his vocal drag here is to die for. Not quite proper luk thung or luk krung, but anomalies that were deliberately excessive & never liable to be popular. Tracklisting: Sroeng Santi-Kuen Kuen Lueng Lueng, Plearn Promdan-Ruk Kun Samong, Rung Petchburi-Pai Joi, Plearn Promdan-Ying Ting, Rung Fah Puping-Pu Yai Lee Santana, Petch Burapa-Kor Hua Hai Bee Kuen, Sroeng Santi-Nam Mun Pang, Teungjai Bunpraruksa-Kanong Krung, Plearn Promdan-Kosok Tee Det, Sroeng Santi-Baa Baa Buam Buam, Riem Daranoi-Jai Ten, Teungjai Bunprauksa, Sroeng Santi-Dub Fai Kui Gun, Jalwal Annie & Geerasak-Klug Tum La.
