The Soundway label goes back to Columbia for an irrestistable, flamboyant, infectious crop of singles on the big Discos Fuentes label. You can hear the elegance of 40s swing matched up to hometown dance rhythms especially well early on in the set, as local fellas like Lucho Bermudez started arranging what the kids & bumpkins liked to hear for high society instruments. Curro Fuentes' deep bass sound is the focus, but there's a din of ratchets, bonks, pongs, and tappings licking around all sides of it. Horns squeeze off like kazoos, and one guy even ups the ante by playing an orange peel instead of a lead trumpet. Salsa, cumbia, merecumbe, patacumbia, more.
