Long renowned as a primo oddity somewhere between psychedelia, exotica & outsider music, this last album by the Incan princess pits her 4+ octave & echo-drenched vibrato against some great fuzz solos & heavy rock vamps. Eleven years after her last Capitol outing, a little group of male fans in their 30s saw Yma perform at a New York restaurant. After lots of exchanges of flowers & visits backstage, they decided to pool some money together to help get a new recording out. During a visit to Los Angeles, the friends bumped into Yma's old accompanist Les Baxter, and soon all were esconced in front of Baxter's home piano. As it happens, Baxter was putting up a rock band who'd been helping him with biker exploitation soundtracks recently, and so the album ended up being a collaboration between the entire houseful of people. Superbly done reish. Notes finally answer the big questions and it adds 3 unreleased tracks too. Tracklisting: Remember, Medicine Man, Let Me Hear You, Tree of Life, Flame Tree, Zebra, Azure Sands, Look Around, Magenta Mountain, El Condor Pass, Savage Rock, Parade, Savage Rock.
