Columbian cumbia supergroup that was home to both Fruko and Anibal Velasquez (both of whom you'd remember from recent records on Analog Africa & Soundway). Band got started in 1962 and continues to this day. Leader Manuel Cervantes played euphonium (it's a cousin to the tuba) in addition to trumpet, and there was also composer Lucho Argain (from La Sonora Dinamita) and accordion king Alfredo Gutierrez. In fact the real star of the show was always the incredible accordion playing & zippy lines of percussion constantly being laid down on top of each other. A bridge between Carribean folk music (aka vallenato) and early 60s large horn ensembles. Tracklisting: Caracol, Lucho Y Rafa, El Hijo de Los Corraleros, Que Lo Seulten, Palito de Malambo, Cumbiamberita, Mosaico, Tamborito de Carnaval, Llora Acordeon, En El Suelo Pelao, Llanerita Cel Alma, Compae Pipe.
